Running a business is no small feat — especially when you’re also juggling family life, decision fatigue, and a calendar that seems to grow by the hour. Over the years, I’ve learned that staying regulated isn’t just about avoiding burnout — it’s about setting myself up to thrive.
In this post, I’m sharing the three daily rituals I rely on to keep my nervous system calm, my mind focused, and my energy steady throughout the day. These aren’t time-consuming or complicated — but they are powerful.
1. Movement First Thing
Every morning, I prioritise some form of physical movement. Whether it’s a walk along the beach with my dog, a spin class, or a few energising breaths — this simple act helps shift me out of mental fog and into a more grounded, present state.
Movement sends a clear signal to my body: “You’re safe. You’re supported. You’re ready.”It’s not about fitness — it’s about regulation.
2. A Simple Mantra Practice
Next, I take just five minutes to sit quietly and repeat a grounding mantra. My current one is: the Ganesha mantra - Ganesha is the remover of obstacles
Whenever my mind drifts, I gently return to the phrase. It’s a practice in presence, in kindness, and in clarity. This moment of stillness builds emotional resilience and helps me step into my day with more intention.
3. Daily Planning with Trello
Trello is a planning tool - showing clearly what you need to achieve across both the year and day to day to hit your year's goals.
Before the noise of the day takes over, I spend 10 minutes with my Trello board. map out my top priority (usually the smallest, quickest task that will give the biggest result) — and make sure my time is focused on high-value activity, not just busywork.
This gives my day structure, direction, and a sense of calm momentum. It’s how I stay focused on what matters most — in business and in life.
